Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for INR monitoring, cervical screening and long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes.
Debbie supports our practice nurses with their daily work and carries out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and urine testing. Debbie can also provide flu immunisations.
The practice manager and assistant practice manager are involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. We support the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also help to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
Our Administration team, including secretaries and patient database administrator, work behind the scenes to deal with correspondence received by the practice, including reports and results from all departments within NHS Grampian. Invitation letters are also sent by this department for the various clinics that are available at the practice. The team is also responsible for ensuring that our patients' records are kept up to date.
Birgit Teismann
Karen Mitchell
Karen and Birgit advise the GPs and nurses on prescribing and medicine issues, support and monitor the repeat prescribing activity of the practice and help with medication reviews.
Birgit is an independent pharmacist prescriber who also runs regular clinics for patients with asthma and COPD.
Our practice-attached community midwives are Siobhain Leith and Marion Barclay
Siobhain and Marion are based at the Maternity Hospital (Telephone 01224 552071). They usually hold clinics at the practice 3 times per week, on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.
We work very closely with our district nursing team who carry out nursing care for housebound patients. These visits are normally authorised by the GPs.
The team can be contacted on 01224 849750. If they are unavailable then please leave a message on their answering machine.
We also work closely with our health visiting team.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. They also have an important role in Child Protection.
The team can be contacted on 01224 283944. If they are unavailable then please leave a message on their answering machine.
